Kori Gassi (Chicken Curry)

Kori Gassi means Chicken curry. A special Manglorean dish made of chicken and eaten with Neer dosa or rice. Extremely easy to prepare, no marination required and fewer ingredients make this preparation loved by all.


The main ingredient in this dish is coconut and coconut milk. Other spices are used in small quantities. The masala can be made and kept in the refrigerator for over a week. The same masala is also used to prepare vegetable curry, so one can say two in one can be made.


INGREDIENTS


  • 250 gms chicken

  • 1 cup of coconut milk

  • ½ cup grated coconut

  • 5-6 garlic pods

  • 3-4 dry red chili

  • 1 tablespoon coriander seeds

  • ½ tablespoon cumin seeds

  • ½ teaspoon fenugreek seeds

  • ½ teaspoon black peppercorns

  • ½ teaspoon garam masala

  • ¼ cup poppy seeds

  • 2 medium onions for grinding

  • 1 medium onion for frying

  • ¼ cup tamarind pulp

  • ¼ teaspoon Haldi (turmeric powder)

  • 1 ½ teaspoon salt

  • ½ cup oil
